Intelligence Analysis

About the course

Intelligence is data and information that has value added to it through analysis. Intelligence-led policing, a business-based model for decision making, utilises Intelligence Analysis for directing resources and activity. Intelligence about crimes and crime trends identified within data can be used for analysis to identify the optimum strategies for ground-level police officers, or for any other individuals acting within a security capacity. This allows police officers or security teams to best target their actions to have the most impact, utilising finite resources to reduce or eliminate the largest threats. Intelligence analysis skills are crucial for teams within law enforcement or the corporate security field to assist in the identification of priority crime types and in the targetting of prolific offenders. The results of this analysis can be used to identify strategies for crime prevention, whether that’s through locations, repeat offenders of potential repeat victims.

This course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of criminal Intelligence Analysis. You'll learn Structured Analytical Techniques, problem-solving methods and you'll be provided with some Excel Dashboards to aid you as an Intelligence Analyst. The full list of modules available can be seen below. This course is modelled on one of the main modules within the College of Policing's Intelligence Professionalisation Programme and is one of the four modules available from Intelligence with Steve that makes up our own Intelligence Professionalisation Programme for Intelligence Analysts.

The course will soon be online on Teachable, however, an interactive workshop with the content listed below can already be delivered on-site at any business premises of your choosing, which can be arranged via the contact section on our main page
